"Keys to My Future: A Homeless Heart's Journey Toward a New Start" Photo by Adam
This is a collaborative project that celebrates the incredible progress and resilience of individuals facing homelessness, ex-convicts on the path to reintegration, and those battling addiction. At the heart of "The power of transformation" is a unique collaboration between two forces for positive change: The Egg Foundation and Making It Out (MiO), a local grassroots organization based in Brighton and Hove.
This project empowers participants by enhancing their photography skills, enabling them to express their experiences, challenges, and hopes through the art of photography. Many of our participants, with little to no prior photography experience, have grown into talented photographers, using photography as their voice to share their struggles and moments of triumph. Beyond skill development, this initiative fosters empowerment and community engagement, giving participants the strength to take control of their lives and challenge stereotypes, thus reducing stigma within the community.
The images created by our participants convey powerful stories of resilience, courage, and the significance of community support. "The power of transformation" actively works to break down the barriers of stigma associated with homelessness, incarceration, and addiction through these visual narratives. Participants have experienced tremendous personal growth, finding purpose and building meaningful connections beyond photography, and many continue to explore the world through the lens, nurturing their creativity and self-expression. The photographs and narratives collected in our project serve as a powerful advocacy tool, inspiring policy changes and resource allocation where needed most.
This project is in development, please stay tuned to see the results of our exhibition and the rest of the images here.
