Monica Norley

Monica Norley is the first of our Change Makers. She has set up an organic soap making business in Uganda called Mama Mzungu. It’s purpose is to provide economic and social empowerment to women and children with albinism in the community. In the six months since Monica became a Change Maker, Mama Mzungu has gone from strength to strength, doubling revenue (profit up ten-fold), finding new distributors, expanding in to Tanzania and employing 13 women with albinism in full time jobs on a living wage. We hope she’ll be the first of many!

  • Women and Children with Albinism in Uganda (WACWAU) is a registered NGO serving the needs of some of the most vulnerable in Uganda’s communities. Across Africa, people with Albinism experience human rights violations and abuses, as well as health complications and shortened life expectancy. Mama Mzungu creates financial independence, gives societal power and freedom, and helps to build a future for this community.
